Any random night about 10 pm...

The drama begins when little Kalliopi turns from Kalli into:

NAKED BABY!

Next, she's placed into the tub:

"SHEESH! This is cold...."

AND.... we're done.

A Present for Mom

Tomorrow is mom's (Amy's) birthday and for a present this week she received from Kalli: 3 shirtfuls of spitup (2 of the shirts being new), and 1 lapful of poo. Amy would like to mention that it got all over the clean "Boppy" (the pillow you lay her on to feed) ... fresh from the dryer.

Happy Birthday ma.

Miss Kalli had a hot date with her boyfriend - 9 week old Griffin Jordy - last night. He was gazing into her eyes and flirting from his mom's shoulder. Pictures of the cute couple to come.

The Dogs

People often ask... "How are the dogs doing with the baby?" Ethan pretty much ignores her but as for Paige... well as you can see her and Kalli are best buds.

Swaddle-dee-do

Sorry for the lag in updating. Mom and dad had a busy weekend with weddings and birthday parties.

It seems as though Miss Kalli has come down with a case of Infant Acne. There's apparentely not much we can do about it except wash her face with water a few times a day. Ah well... there's no boys she has to impress at this point in her life.

Turns out that she also likes to be swaddled.... really, really tight. We've swaddled her "gently" since she was born but tried a new technique last night. She then proceeded to go an unheard of amount of time without fussing. She also slept so long that mom and dad woke up in the night and had to WAKE her for a feeding.

And... it appears she likes to suck her thumb (see pic)...

Yahoo for Sleep

Yahoo for sleep! Kalliopi finally went down for the count at about 10 pm last night. She woke up to feed at 4 am, stayed up for an hour, then was still asleep when Dad went to work at 8 in the morning. Now THAT's a good night.

Right on Target

Well we've had a change for the best in the past 24-hours! Kalli's been eating, sleeping, and "being awake" well ever since yesterday afternoon. All of her crying has been able to be consoled (once she was picked up or soothed) and mom and dad got two big four hour chunks of sleep last night (as did Kalli).

Doctor says all is well and she's eating and growing great. Her tear ducts are infected and we got some drops for that, but otherwise she's right on track. She also said that colicky babies just usually have a very observant personality and therefore overstimulate themselves very easily and don't know how to deal with it. She said these babies usually grow up being pretty observant, curious, and bright so that's good news as well. (Sorry, Katie, I didn't see your message until this morning so I didn't get a chance to ask about reflux... maybe if it's not better by next visit we'll check).

Everything's right on target!

Mom and Dad are Zombies

"Kalli practices her Tai Chi."

Grog.... Grog..... Mom and dad are zombies at this point. Kalli sure is a sweetheart when she's being an angel, but boy can she enter Hysteria Mode. And of course, it's usually the twilight hours when she decides she'd like to enter her name in the dictionary under the definiton of COLICY BABY.

We have a doctors visit in the morning (Wednesday) and we've already got a list of about 8 things to ask her. Meanwhile dad's hooked up and is running an "IV" of coffee for his arm for his first day back at work. :)

The Stump!

The STUMP has fallen off! Much to mom and dad's thankfulness, Kalli's umbilical cord - or "the stump" as we call it - finally came unattatched today. Thank goodness - that thang was gettin' stanky.

Have been out and about a few times including going to church this morning. Dad was sitting in his office and mom had the baby out in the sanctuary after service. When people asked dad if the baby was here, he simply said, "Look for the crowd."

Just Duckie

Congratulations to Kalli - who has graduated to the world of projectile spit-up! Mom got a shirt and bed full when Kalli decided to eat more than her little tummy could hold.

Meanwhile, dad has been on vacation and as mom returned home from a hair appointment the other day, dad was laying in bed with Kalli... in jammies... and yes, it was 4 pm.

We took a family trip to mom's favorite place on earth ... and daddy's personal hell ... the MALL. Jeans were purchased - can you believe how much baby clothes are? Kalli slept through everything, but dad is concerned that she might be a shopaholic in training. All in all a very good day.

Visitors!

Lots of friends and family have been stopping by! Here are a few pictures of our visitors. If any of you would like to visit, feel free - we'd love to see you, just give us a call first to make sure there's not already a "house full."

Kalli's been sleeping great and giving mom and dad some rest at night. She's also eating well and enjoying her new surroundings. Everything's going great!

A Quick Pic...

Not much time for a journal entry today but we wanted to share with you this quick picture. Sure, it may have been gas that made her smile, but you'll never convince us of that...

She's Here!

This is the first entry in what we hope will be a daily or "nearly daily" web journal about Kalli. Many of you (our friends and family) are not in the area so this website is your way to stay up-to-date about what's going on with 'the little one.' We will be getting DSL at our house on Sept. 14th, so up until that time this may not be updated frequently, but after 9/14 it will be very regular.

SHE'S ARRIVED!
Name: Kalliopi Psalm Harden (...but you can just call her Kalli)
Birthday: Sept. 1, 2004
Weight: 10 lbs, 4 oz.
Length: 22 1/4 "
Born: 4:09 pm at Home Hospital, Lafayette, IN

Mom and Dad and the rest of the family are so pleased! She's happy, healthy, and beautiful! We finally got her home Friday night and although her first day or so at home was pretty rough (can you say Colicky?), she's now adapting wonderfully and even allowing us to sleep a while at night! The rest of today's entry will be pictures. If you're new to this "Blogging" thing, you are able to leave comments after each day's entry to let us know you read it and/or leave us some messages (just scroll down all the way to the bottom of the entry and click on "Comments"! Hope to hear from you all soon!
